It is interesting to know the anatomy and physiology of your digestive system. To keep your physical functions in proper way, it is essential that you do not suffer from any digestion related problems.
Weight loss secrets also depend on your digestive system. The digestive system starts from your mouth. There are salivary glands located in your mouth. This will be secreted when you take the food in your mouth. This will help to make the food smooth and get digested easily.
Then from the mouth a tube like structure called as esophagus connects your stomach. When the food enters the stomach, there it remains for some time to get mixed with stomach acids. This further moves towards small intestine and large intestine. Food will remain liquid till small intestine. It gets mixed with insulin and pancreatic juice from pancreatic gland and bile from the liver at the time of entering into small intestine.
Small intestine helps the essence of the food to get absorbed with the blood through villus of small intestine. The role of large intestine is to absorb the remaining water and evacuate the waste matter. Thus the digestive system functions with ingestion of food, digestion, absorption and evacuation. This is done in different parts of the digestive tract.
If the food is not digested properly, it can not be absorbed well. This will make you to feel less energetic. Your body requires nutrition which is supplied by the digestive system. Your colon or large intestine should evacuate the waste matter effectively. Otherwise, you might experience constipation. It will make your blood impure and you may also get headache. It is also cause for weight gain.
Food items that can be easily digested, fiber food, vegetables and fruits are more recommended for better functions of your digestive system. Of course you can not neglect regular exercise.
