Why VoiP should be considered by anyone working from home
Setting up a home office is not without considerable stresses and tribulations. One must get the room ready, organize change of use with local governmental organizations, set up equipment and hardware. Not least on the list of things to do is the setting up and running of a phone line.
When working from home, either with a company or when freelancing it is essential that people can get hold of you. The phone is one of the most common and important ways to do this, and so it is essential that the work from home professional has a phone system that is reliable.
But with many people working from home price is also a vital consideration. Phone lines can cost considerable amounts of money and so it is important that anyone considering getting a phone line for the home office shops around for the right service.
VoiP is a viable option
Many people setting up a home office don’t consider VoiP, or are wary of the quality of service that it can provide. This is based in the past where VoiP providers were giving an unreliable service and the quality of the call was poor.
But times have moved on. The reliability of most services are top notch, with calls being made and received with no problems whatsoever. The quality is also very good, with many of the top VoiP companies scoring highly in quality tests.
Testimonials
VoiP providers are of course likely to push their quality as high, it is in with outside reviews and testimonials that we are able to see the true quality of their services. Of course not all VoiP providers are up to standard, but most of the major companies receive very favorable reviews as to their quality.
Make sure that you look around the Internet for peoples reviews and testimonials when you are considering a VoiP provider. You want to make sure that you can trust the company you choose, and other customers will give you a clear view of that.
Price
One area that VoiP makes an obvious difference is price. With many calls free, and cheap purchases of ‘bolt on’ style top ups, where you can make specific calls very cheap indeed, the difference in price between a VoiP phone set up and a traditional phone set up can be very large indeed.
There is little to no line rental and mostly very cheap hardware. A computer and Internet connection are essential, but most people already have these. Other than that the only real outlay is for a headset with a microphone – and they can be bought for next to nothing on many online retail stores.
So VoiP has to be considered
Whilst VoiP is not the answer for everyone, VoiP software is a powerful tool for anyone working from home and looking for a cheap and reliable phone system. Make sure that you include the different packages when weighing up what phone system to have in your home office – you could end up saving yourself a lot of money.
